Internal Wall Insulation

If you’ve never utilised internal wall insulation grants through the Government’s ECO Scheme, then you really should give this knowledge page a read. ECO grants for internal wall insulation can potentially save you hundreds of pounds.
In the UK, many residential properties still don’t have adequate internal wall insulation installed. Government Energy Grants has been working with homeowners for quite some time now, helping them to claim ECO grants for internal wall installation.
What is Internal Wall Insulation?
Internal wall insulation is typically of two types – a timber frame can be made using an insulating material which will be placed between the timber, or insulation boards will be fixed directly on the walls.

Stud walls are more robust than insulation boards, being able to withstand the weight of cupboards, shelving and other similar fixtures more easily, although they are thicker as well.

No matter which option you choose, you will need to undergo removal and/or replacement of fixtures like skirting boards, switches, shelves, etc.

Why is there a need for internal wall insulation in the first place?
Almost all heat escaping from solid walled homes occurs by way of heat getting lost through the walls. If you insulate these walls, it slows down the speed or rate at which that heat is lost, keeping your home nice, warm and comfortable, and for a lot longer too.

One of the most common ways of preventing this heat loss is by insulating the internal walls, with mechanical fixation and gluing of insulated PIR boards to your existing walls being a suitable method for most homes.

A compelling reason to have internal wall insulation installed professionally
Some homeowners may not be aware of this but professionally installed internal wall insulation can help you save heating bills by reducing the amount of heat lost through the walls by up to almost 45%. In terms of savings, this means that you could potentially save up to £270 a year in, say, a three-bedroom semi-detached house.

Government Energy Grants’ certified team of installers will perform a quick survey to check your property’s suitability for free internal wall insulation, while also double checking that you qualify for the grant. The entire job will be performed to the highest standard and in a minimally invasive manner, providing a __ year guarantee after completion.

It’s possible that you may be eligible to get an internal wall insulation grant 100% free under the Government-backed ECO scheme. Just give us a call and our survey team will let you know what the next steps are to take advantage of the scheme.

Can I go ahead and apply then?
Mentioned below are benefits which qualify you to get internal wall insulation for free, although it also depends on the kind of heating system you have currently installed (such as storage or electric room heaters and no central heating).

Furthermore, the property you’re living in should be privately owned by you and if you’re a tenant, then it needs to be owned by the same. In addition, the property should have solid walls only.

The benefits which entitle you to an ECO grant to cover the entire cost of internal wall insulation are as follows:

• Attendance Allowance
• Armed Forced Independence Payment
• Child Tax Credit
• Child Benefit
• Constant Attendance Allowance
• Carer’s Allowance
• Disability Living Allowance
• Income Support

• Income-Based Jobseekers Allowance
• Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit
• PIP/Personal Independence Payment
• Pension Guarantee Credit
• Severe/Total Disablement Allowance

Please note that any one of the benefits above qualify you.
